Architectural notes

Bird Canyon Units at Playa Escondida

These magnificent houses were designed, built, furnished and decorated in Thailand by the same architectural team responsible for Playa Escondida, using carefully selected trees from northern Thailand government-approved teak plantations as well as custom made bamboo weaves and plywoods. The design is based on the traditional Thai knock-down house which would be taken apart and moved when flood plain or other agricultural conditions warranted. The design was enhanced with modern joinery and stainless steel hardware and given a more general tropical beach appearance without the traditional Thai motifs which woud have given them a definite cultural stamp.
